1. Introduction to the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors
The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (“HKIS”) is a Hong Kong*10 surveying professional organization established in 1984. The society plays an important advisory role in government policy formulation, and is committed to building unauthorized construction issues, building safety campaigns, property management issues, urban planning and development strategies, as well as construction quality and housing issues. At present, it has signed agreements with many professional surveying and appraisal societies in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and China to mutually recognize each other’s membership. In addition, the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors is also a member of several major international assessment organizations.
2. Responsibilities of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors
The work of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors is mainly to formulate professional service standards, including formulating professional ethics, formulating requirements for joining the ranks of professional surveyors, and encouraging members to enhance their professional skills through continuous professional training. The main responsibilities of the organization are:
(1) Assess the value of various types of real estate and various rights and interests
(2) Manage and promote all matters related to real estate and real estate management
(3) Measure, record and describe geographic information
(4) Management, development and measurement of real estate rights and interests
